GUY PENROD
GUY PENROD
BREATHE DEEP
Guy is well known as the lead singer of the Gaither Vocal Band with multiple
hits. Here he crosses-over into modern-country, story-flavored repertoire. One
suspects this is not aimed solely at the Christian market but also the country
punter. As soon as the laser hit the CD, I said to myself, “Now that’s class!”
Expertly produced by Brent Rowan in Nashville’s Curb Studios, these 13
country-ballads come with thought-worthy Sunday School applications!’ The
musical range is from earthy to heavenly and he is mature and impressive in
delivery with a soulful quality. His contemp backing is broad in appeal, ideal for
country radio. If you haven’t been to the shop recently for a modern- country
purchase, this is certainly worth a purchase for its inspirational artistry. Non-
familiar, the repertoire is engaging and never ‘in-your-face’ appealing to a large
age-range.
